My grievances are as follows:
1. The Faction has disappeared and been replaced by Guns and Roses radio or whatever it is. Even though The Faction was one of my favorites, Jason Ellis needs to put a sock in it. I literally could not care less about his show.
2. Nobody needs/wants The Spectrum. The alt one or whatever already covers that. Plus the indie bullshit they play is fucking weird. They need like a rock mix channel or something.
3. The 80's channel plays random obscure songs that nobody particularly cared to hear.
4. I don’t get reception unless I’m either in the middle of a massive city, or nowhere near a single tree, unless I’m in the middle of an empty field, in which case I will get no reception .
5. Octane, The Highway and Lithium are the only three channels I regularly listen to. My other presets are mainly for when I have passengers or something.

The 80s channel plays Duran Duran, and other amazing 80s stuff. First wave and alt nation and lithium are my go-to channels.

Do they still have the Pearl Jam channel? Because that was pretty sweet.

80s on 8 has really fallen in the past few months. I actually cancelled my subscription in the Passat and F150 because I didn’t really care for it anymore. They play “Africa” like once a week if they play it at all.
I’ve resorted to using the 80s songs I have on my phone as well as a local 80s HD radio station.
Here’s what I was listening to the other night in the F150 through CarPlay:

I don’t like that the audio is super compressed and sounds terrible

Protip: if you call and try to cancel, you can usually get a better price. I repeatedly would get 3 months free and then like 5 bucks a month for a while because I had been a customer for a while and they wanted to keep me. The only way I was able to actually get them to leave me alone was by telling them that I didn’t own a car anymore. That was a lie, but I didn’t have a car with a satellite radio anymore.

6. They have completely cut out sports channels in the basic package. I don’t really care about live games, but listening to ESPN radio can be interesting sometimes. I especially like when they used to carry the audio of ESPNews so you could listen to Sportscenter sometimes.
7. They got rid of Lucy, Fungus, and Squizz when they merged. They used to have a dedicated punk station and no, the faction does not even come close.
8. It is not even appealing enough on the free weekends for me to listen to it, let alone actually pay for it.

I activated mine for my road trip last month. Good to not have to hunt for location stations every couple of hundred miles. I won’t renew it though, I don’t drive enough otherwise.

Yeah I don’t miss it either, dropped it when I traded in my jsw. Now it’s the local morning show or play music on my phone’s sd card over Bluetooth.

Yes this. My boss has it in his Yukon and even at speed with the windows open I can hear how bad the SQ is.
As bad as mp3s people were downloading from napster over dialup in the 90's.

Agreed, wish their selection was like TK101. To date that’s my favorite channel for rock.

Lithium, Turbo and Rock Bar are what I go through.
If those fail, Classic (whatever) and Classic Vinyl. Save that, BBC World
The wife really likes The Garth Channel tho

I no longer get Turbo and Rock Bar, those were two of my favorites though. Something about my SXM subscription not being transferable when I got rid of the VW for the Tacoma.

Well if it helps, Turbo has been playing non stop commercials about being available “...on all radios” in the near future

Of course, the gold old commercial about not having commercials and whatnot.
Was it Turbo that’s switching to an older hard rock channel in the future?

If you wanted to hear “Africa” you should have been listening to the Yacht Rock channel. It’s on there a bunch.

I don’t know if they’re changing formats. If they do, they’ll probably lose me as doing the whole “hard rock from the ‘90s and 2000s” is right up my alley

I really only have it anymore for the NFL games. The music channels used to be way better. Though I really don’t mind hearing the more obscure songs on the 80s on 8. I still love listening to the top 40 song countdowns on the weekends for that reason, because numbers 30-40 are always filled with songs I’ve forgotten.
I am irritated that they got rid of OutQ a couple years ago. I loved Derek and Romaine.

D&R was always entertaining to listen to.
But I did get to a point where it made sense to continue having the subscription.

We have it in our company cars, until the year trial runs out. It’s so nice to have since we always have service when we travel state to state. BPM, Electric Area, The Fly, Turbo, Octane, those are the main ones. The rest I could take or leave.

With carplay I’d strongly recommend Spotify. It’s the one reason I wish my car had carplay.

I do have Spotify, but it plays the same songs on my favorite stations that I have in my iTunes 80s playlist (300+ 80s songs).
I find it kind of redundant in my case, but it is a good app for those who want to hear new music.

I get free SXM through work (rolling trials & demo cars).
I don’t use it.
I also don’t get why anyone would pay for it, but I’m also the same person who doesn’t understand paying for NFL Sunday Ticket or Red Zone or Strike Zone or any of those other add-ons unless you’re a fan of a non-market team (the whole “market” thing is crap anyway). Even then it’s spending so much money to hear how some millionaires did playing a game for a few hours against some other millionaires. I have cable and follow my local NHL team, and my wife loosely follows our local MLB team, but sports has never been so huge as to dedicate more than a few hours to one event, especially on a weekly (or more) basis.
